Your choices about storage and access technologies

01

What cookies are

Cookies are small text records stored on a device when a website is used. Some remember a choice, some support essential functions, and others, when used and permitted, may help measure visits or deliver personalised experiences. Similar device-storage technologies can be subject to the same UK consent requirements.

We provide a choice before using optional categories where consent is necessary. You can make a selection in the cookie panel and revisit it using the ‘Change cookie choice’ link in the footer.

02

Strictly necessary cookies

The publication uses a first-party cookie named cookie_consent to record whether you chose ‘Accept all’ or ‘Necessary only’. Its configured lifespan is 15,552,000 seconds, or around 180 days. The cookie applies to this site and helps avoid asking for the same choice on every visit.

Necessary technologies may also be involved in secure delivery of webpages. Such functionality is limited to what is genuinely required for an explicitly requested service and must not be repurposed for unrelated targeting without an appropriate legal basis.

03

Analytics cookies

Analytics cookies, if introduced, could help a website operator understand how content is read across visits. These are not required to view this publication. No analytics service is currently used by this publication, and choosing ‘Accept all’ does not by itself activate one.

Before any analytics technology requiring consent is deployed, its provider, purpose, duration and other relevant information should be disclosed, and it should be activated only in accordance with a valid user choice.

04

Marketing and third-party cookies

Marketing cookies, if introduced, may be used by advertising partners to measure advertising activity or relate content to interests. No marketing cookies are currently set by this publication. An external link to Deputy is not a licence for this site to store third-party marketing cookies.

Deputy's official website is a separate service. If you navigate there, its own cookie practices, third parties and consent choices are governed by its notices and terms rather than those of Shift Solutions Limited.

05

Managing or changing consent

Select ‘Necessary only’ to decline optional cookies, or ‘Accept all’ to permit optional categories if they are implemented with suitable consent controls. You can reopen the choices using the permanent footer link. Browser settings may also let you inspect and clear stored cookies.

Removing cookies in your browser may cause the panel to reappear on your next visit. Changing a preference affects future processing and does not automatically undo any processing that was lawful before the change.

06

Duration and updates

The consent-preference cookie is set for approximately six months. Individual optional technologies, should they be added, may have different durations and require an updated notice stating their function and lifespan. We periodically review whether the categories described remain appropriate.

Shift Solutions Limited is the operator to contact about the cookies used on this publication. Privacy-related rights and contact information are also set out in our privacy policy.

07

Questions about cookies

You may contact the operator to ask what a particular cookie is used for, how long it is retained, or how a preference can be changed. Queries should identify the site and describe the concern so the appropriate records can be reviewed.
